Golf Insider slams PGA of America for 'insane ticket prices' for 2025 Ryder Cup

The ticket prices for the 2025 Ryder Cup were just revealed, and they are not cheap. Fans who want to attend the international tournament next summer at Bethpage Black in New York will have to pay significant prices, which doesn't include potential travel or housing during the weekend of the event.

Golf insider Kevin Van Valkenburg has already taken to criticizing the PGA of America for these numbers on X:

"I would like to go on the record now and say that if Europe wins the Ryder Cup at Bethpage because the crowds were turned into a polite snooze fest like LACC by the insane ticket prices, it's going to go down as a massive own goal."

The analyst believes that the prices may be too high for fans to be able to come out in droves to support the Americans. If that's the case, there may not be a tough atmosphere for Europeans to play in, which may allow them to comfortably play their game.

The Europeans dominated at Marco Simone last year. Their talent is to be reckoned with, and the Americans may need the help of a loud crowd to turn the tide in the competition. That may not be possible with the ticket prices.

Currently, practice days on Tuesday and Wednesday cost over $250. Thursday's opening round is $423. On Friday, Saturday, and the finale on Sunday, fans can get in for $750.

Who could make the Ryder Cup teams for 2025?

While the competition itself is a big draw, much of what fans appreciate about the Ryder Cup is the players themselves. They come to see the top golfers in America and Europe, who ultimately make up some of the best in the world, face off with one another.

The reason people might pay $750 to go to a round is to see some of the most talented golfers. There is still a year between now and when the Ryder Cup actually takes place. That leaves plenty of time for this to change.

However, as it stands, the six automatic qualifiers in Ryder points right now for the USA are Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Brian Harman, and Billy Horschel.

The next six are captain's picks, but among those who are up on the leaderboard that could be picked are Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, Tony Finau, Russell Henley, and Sahith Theegala.

On the European side, the standings are currently led by Rasmus Hojgaard, Rory McIlroy, Niklas Norgaard, Matt Wallace, Tyrell Hatton, and Dan Bradbury. Among those who could be picked are Jon Rahm, Angel Hidalgo, Tommy Fleetwood, Yannik Paul, Thorbjorn Oleson, and Alfredo Garcia-Heredia.

Rahm, Hatton, and other LIV players have been fighting to get into DP World Tour events to retain eligibility for the Cup. Sergio Garcia is reportedly in talks to retain his membership to the Tour to be eligible as well.
