Golf insider takes a jibe at Ryder Cup host city amid Yankees fans controversy

The 45th edition of the Ryder Cup is set to take place in Bethpage, New York, next year. While golf's premier event is still a year away, New York is currently hosting the MLB World Series.

On Tuesday, October 29, during the fourth game of the World Series between the Dodgers and Yankees, a fan from the local team tried to take the ball out of Mookie Betts' glove after an out.

Reacting to a clip of the incident shared on X, golf insider Dan Rapaport took a dig at the Ryder Cup, which will also be played in New York.

"The Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York begins in 332 days," he wrote.

The Ryder Cup has been in the news for some time now for different reasons. Recently, the ticket prices for the biennial event were announced. The prices for each day of action in New York are set at $750, a whopping four times that of the 2021 edition. This didn’t sit well with the fans, as well as the players and pundits.

Speaking of the World Series, the Yankees kept their hopes alive after registering their first win on Tuesday. They posted an 11-4 victory over the Dodgers to avoid the sweep. Game 5 will take place at the Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, October 30.

Who is leading in the points standings for the Ryder Cup 2025?

While the US is using the same point system as last time, Team Europe has scrapped the World and European points format and is adopting a point system similar to that of the US for qualification.
