“Golf’s greatest team event” - Keegan Bradley is ‘incredibly honored’ to become the 2025 Ryder Cup US team skipper
Keegan Bradley expressed his happiness after being named the captain of the US Team for the 2025 Ryder Cup. On Monday, PGA of America President, John Lindert announced that Bradley will serve as the captain for the American team in the upcoming edition of the biennial tournament.
Keegan Bradley has played in two editions of the prestigious tournament and holds a decent record. Following the announcement, Bradley released a statement thanking the officials and highlighting his love for the game.
Speaking about being the Ryder Cup captain, Bradley said (via Ryder Cup):
“I am incredibly honored to accept this opportunity to Captain the United States Team at the 2025 Ryder Cup. I would like to thank the PGA of America Ryder Cup Committee for their trust in me as we embark on this journey to Bethpage Black."
He further highlighted that he is looking forward to beginning his preparations for the upcoming edition of the Ryder Cup. He added:
"My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger. The Ryder Cup is unlike any other competition in our sport, and this edition will undoubtedly be particularly special given the rich history and enthusiastic spectators at this iconic course. I look forward to beginning preparations for 2025," he added.
Keegan Bradley made his Ryder Cup debut in 2012 and scored 3-1-0. His overall career record in the tournament stands at 4-3-0.
A look into Keegan Bradley's career
Keegan Bradley started playing professionally in 2008 after a successful stint as an amateur. During his time studying at St. John's University, he won nine collegiate events before turning professional in 2008. Initially, Bradley competed on the NGA Hooters Tour and recorded some impressive finishes.
He won the 2008 Southern Dunes and then the 2009 Texas Honing Open. He also played on the Nationwide Tour, and in 2010, he recorded some impressive finishes on the circuit, which helped him settle in 14th place on the money list and earn his PGA Tour card.
Keegan Bradley made his PGA Tour debut in 2011 at the Sony Open in Hawaii. He had an impressive start to his career on the circuit, finishing T7 at the Bob Hope Classic soon after making his debut.
Interestingly, his maiden PGA Tour win came in his rookie year when he won the HP Byron Nelson Championship by defeating Ryan Palmer in a playoff. Bradley has won six PGA Tour events in his career so far. His last win was at the Travelers Championship in 2023.
In addition to regular tournaments, Bradley holds an impressive record in majors, having won the PGA Championship in 2011. He is one of six golfers in history to win his debut major. His best world ranking is tenth, and he has 12 professional victories.
