"Gotta be in it to win it": Ian Poulter announces part in caddie bib giveaway
Ian Poulter's Majesticks GC is one of LIV Golf's most involved in social initiatives. His interactions with fans, live and via social media, are also common, such as the latest one involving Lee Westwood.
Westwood launched a call on social network X (formerly Twitter) for fans who want to win his autographed caddie bib. To be successful, participants must follow the official Majesticks GC team account on X and tag three friends.
Poulter responded to the 25-time DP World Tour winner's post by reposting it with the following comment:
"Gotta be in it to win it"
Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter are co-captains of Majesticks GC, along with Henrik Stenson. Sam Horsfield completes the roster. While the team hasn't had a great athletic season, it has been the best in LIV Golf regarding its involvement in social initiatives. Majesticks GC leads the league's Impact Leaderboard thanks to its Little Sticks program, which aims to get more kids involved in golf.
The Impact Leaderboard is an initiative created by LIV Golf to measure teams' social impact. It consists of a competition with $150,000 in prize money, with $75,000 going to the winning team. The competition is defined by measuring nine indicators, including the impact on young people's lives, sustainability, and the strategy adopted.
Poulter's Majesticks GC finished the 2024 regular season in 11th place in the team standings, with 38 points. The team had no podium finishes, and its best result was a fourth-place finish in three events (Hong Kong, Nashville, and Chicago). In the team championship, it was swept 3-0 by Sergio Garcia's Fireballs GC in the quarterfinals, but led the third tier in the final and finished the event in 9th place.
Ian Poulter's Majesticks GC Little Sticks program at a glance
Ian Poulter's Majesticks GC's flagship social impact strategy program, Little Sticks, was launched in July 2023 and focuses on three main areas: education, engagement, and empowerment.
At the time of the program's launch, Poulter said the following (via Golf Magic):
"We are thrilled to launch Little Sticks in the UK and share our wider community impact strategy. This work is integral to our team's identity, and we are passionate about helping communities access the benefits of golf. By bringing golf to communities in a format and location that resonates with them, we aim to forge positive relationships with the game."
The program aims to engage 200 schools in integrating golf into the physical education curriculum. So far, Little Sticks is operating in London and Newcastle in the United Kingdom and Orlando, Florida.
Ian Poulter and his team members regularly produce educational and promotional videos for the program. They also visit the children to reinforce their golf skills and values such as resilience and teamwork.
