“Great US Open”: Donald Trump showers praise on LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau in his victory
Donald Trump showered praise on LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau in his victory address to supporters in Florida. The golfer had attended the address in support of Trump, wearing a MAGA (Make America Great Again) cap.
On Tuesday, November 5, NUCLR Golf shared a clip of Trump’s address, where he invited DeChambeau onto the stage
"We have up here today the US Open champion," Trump tells his supporters. "He's, uh, fantastic—slightly longer than me, hits a ball a little bit longer than me. Just a little bit. Bryson DeChambeau is up here someplace."
As DeChambeau takes a while to come on stage, Trump repeats his name a couple of times to invite him up.
"Oh, he was shot—he’s hitting balls," he continues. "Oh, he's on the way, he's hitting balls. Bryson. Oh, look at him. He had a great—he's, uh, got a great career going. Great US Open. Bryson, that's a fantastic job."
"His iron play was great" - Bryson DeChambeau praises Donald Trump's golf skills
Recently, Donald Trump appeared on DeChambeau's YouTube show Break 50, and the video garnered more than 11 million views, becoming the most-viewed episode on the golfer's channel.
Although Trump's claim of being a good golfer is viewed skeptically by many critics, DeChambeau praised the former President's game.
"Man, his iron play was great," he was quoted as saying via Golf.com. "I can't tell you the number of times he stuffed it on the green within 30 feet in regulation. His driver swing is the most repeatable thing I have ever seen. I wish mine was that repeatable. Really, I do," he added.
The two-time US Open champion also received a lot of flak for inviting Trump on Break 50, as many called it a politically motivated move. However, the golfer asserted that he was only trying to bring the best content and provide entertainment for the fans.
"We can talk about politics," DeChambeau told Fox News Digital. "That’s a whole different conversation, something that I was not trying to do on my YouTube channel, it was solely on providing great entertainment."
Trump and DeChambeau share a cordial relationship and have also played several times during the LIV Golf Pro-Ams.
Speaking of golf, Bryson DeChambeau had a great season, as he claimed the US Open, beating Rory McIlroy by one stroke. Further, he finished runner-up at the PGA Championship and tied for sixth at the Masters
