“Have a great time at the LIV Golf event” - Billy Horschel claps back at a golf podcast host after being called ‘fake and inauthentic’

Following his runner-up finish at the Open Championship, Billy Horschel has hit back at a golf podcast host who had called him 'fake.' Horschel asked the host to ask around about him.

On Sunday, July 21, Billy Horschel finished as the runner-up at the 2024 Open Championship. He carded a 3-under 68 in the final round to finish at 7-under, two strokes behind Xander Schauffele.

A few hours after his best-ever finish in a Major, Horschel responded to Pro Golf Critic, a podcast host who had made some undesirable comments about him previously.

"I haven’t replied to any one your tweets about me over the past year because I felt no need to. But I am now. Feel free to ask around about me. One thing I willing to bet you won’t hear is that I’m fake or not authentic," Horschel replied to Pro Golf Critic.

Pro Golf Critic stuck to his opinion but added that he was open to listening to different perspectives. He also invited Horschel to JCB, stating that he was up for a conversation.

"I think that you are and there’s no info I have to say otherwise. Happy to listen to dissenting opinions if you think that will balance things out. 🤷🏽‍♂️
"Why don’t you come to JCB this week and we can have a chat. I’m always up for a conversation," he wrote.

However, Billy Horschel turned down his offer, citing the schedule.

"Thanks but I’m playing 3M Open," he wrote. "Sad that you could hear the truth from first hand accounts and you still would have the wrong opinion. That’s fine. Realized a long time ago can’t change everyone’s opinion. Have a great time at the LIV event."

Earlier Pro Golf Critic had referred to Horschel as fake and inauthentic.

"I think he’s fake & inauthentic and outside of owning that, nothing will make me like him," he wrote on X.

Horschel will next compete at the 3M Open which will be played from Thursday, July 25 to Sunday, July 28 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota.
