"He beat me straight up" - Xander Schauffele reveals 'embarrassing' story of getting beaten by $2,600,000,000-worth NBA icon

Xander Schauffele might be the World No. 2 golfer teeing it up for the 2024 US Open, but he recently got beaten by an NBA icon who does not play pro golf. Schauffele detailed his 'embarrassing' story about playing and losing against Michael Jordan.

While taking some practice shots at the US Open, Xander Schauffele spoke about his earlier experience playing with Michael Jordan. Schauffele said in a conversation with CBS Sports' Colt Knost that he tried to 'sh*t talk' Jordan, which was seemingly a big mistake.

Xander Schauffele said that as soon as he tried to 'sh*t talk' Michael Jordan, the latter quickly got quiet and focused. He then ended up beating Schauffele which the latter claimed was an embarrassing experience for him.

"It is fun. I did my best version of it [sh*t talking] and then he beat me straight up, which is embarrassing. In the last three holes, I pancaked him and then on his stroke holes I start talking sh*t to him. He got all quiet and focused and birdied like 15-16, no strokes. Beat me straight up and I was like 'alright'."

Michael Jordan, who has a net worth of $2.6 billion (according to Celebrity Net Worth), is an avid golfer and has often played alongside the likes of Tiger Woods and Justin Thomas.

Xander Schauffele looks to pick up second Major win of the 2024 season after winning the PGA Championship

Earlier this year, Xander Schauffele clinched his first-ever Major victory at the 2024 PGA Championship, which was also his first victory on the PGA Tour in two years. He beat the likes of Bryson DeChambeau, Viktor Hovland, and Scottie Scheffler to lift the Wanamaker trophy this year.

Speaking about his win, Schauffele said via CNN:

“I was actually kind of emotional after the putt lipped in. It’s been a while since I’ve won, and I really just kept saying it all week, ‘I just need to stay in my lane.’ Man, was it hard to stay in my lane today, but I tried all day to just keep focus on what I’m trying to do and keep every hole ahead of me. I just told myself, 'This is my opportunity,' and just capture it."

He followed up his win at the PGA Championship with a T8 finish at the Memorial Tournament. Going into the US Open, he stands as one of the favorites to win the event.

The 2024 US Open is all set to be held from June 13 to 16 at Course No. 2, Pinehurst Resort, North Carolina. The third Major of the year will see the likes of Scheffler, DeChambeau, Rory McIlroy, and Brooks Koepka tee it up this weekend.
