“He’s got every shot”: Jordan Spieth on the Scottie Scheffler magic
Former No. 1 Jordan Spieth pulled out heaps of praise for current No. 1 in the OWGR, Scottie Scheffler.
After the 26-year-old Scheffler won The Players Championship 2023, Spieth appreciated him by saying,
"He's got every shot and then at this point, once he won last year and obviously won the Masters, I feel like... when you're presented with those shots, if you don't feel like you have house money, you play them a certain way, but if you feel like it doesn't matter, you're going to play the shot that could go closest even if it means disaster could happen."
Jordan Spieth highlighted that Scheffler may have been playing in his once-in-a-lifetime form. He added that Scottie Scheffler was obviously unaware and found himself in a difficult situation to concede that his strategy had changed.
Scottie Scheffler won The Players Championship 2023
Scheffler had an amazing Sunday when he put on a brilliant masterclass performance in the finals of The Players Championship 2023.
In the midst of his round, Scheffler made five straight birdies to build a six-shot lead. He finished with a par 3-under 69 to win the PGA Tour's top prize by five strokes.
Scheffler returned to the top of the world after winning the match for the second time in 2018. His Players Championship win is valued at a whopping $4.5 million. With the four wins he had last year, which were capped off by his Masters victory, he has now won six times in his previous 27 PGA Tour outings.
Scottie Scheffler's victory margin at The Players was the greatest since Stephen Ames' six-shot triumph in 2006 when he sank a 20-foot par putt on the last hole.
