"Honestly, jail was a touch boring"- Scottie Scheffler dishes out more details about getting arrested during the PGA Championship
Scottie Scheffler shared details about his infamous arrest at the PGA Championship, earlier this year. The American golfer appeared on ESPN's College GameDay in Texas. He actively participated in the event and had fun while talking to the commentators.
During their conversation, analyst Pat McAfee jokingly asked Scheffler if he stretched in jail. Responding to the question, Scheffler stated that it was boring. He said:
"Honestly, jail was a touch boring"
Scottie Scheffler was arrested for allegedly injuring a police officer earlier this year. While competing at the 2024 PGA Championship, he was on his way to the venue for his tee time for the second round of the event, amidst heavy traffic.
Reportedly, that morning, a pedestrian was killed in an accident, and the police were managing the traffic. While Scheffler was heading to the venue, he was stopped by a police officer, but in the confusion, he drove away.
Later, the police arrested the World No. 1 at the gate of the Valhalla Golf Course. It was reported that he had injured an officer on duty, who was attempting to stop him while he was heading to the venue.
Scheffler spent a few hours in jail before he was released and later competed in the PGA Championship. Speaking of the arrest at that time, he said, via AP News:
“I definitely never imagined ever going to jail, and I definitely never imagined going to jail the morning before one of my tee times for sure. I was grateful to be able to go out there and compete and yeah, it was definitely a nice round of golf.”
Notably, all the charges against the World No. 1 were later dropped.
