Charles Howell III won the 2023 LIV Golf League season opener on Sunday. The American golfer lifted the trophy at the El Camaleón Golf Course in Mayakoba, Mexico. With the win, the golfer bagged the top prize of $4 million.

Despite spending 22 years on the PGA tour, Sunday’s win in Mayakoba was Howell III’s first-ever professional victory. However, the 43-year-old has earned $42,025,458 in his career so far, which leap-frogged on Sunday with the LIV Golf win. The golfer also helped his Crushers side to victory and earned a share of its $3 million earnings.

While Howell III earned around $5 million for his efforts, the event’s runner-up, Peter Uihlein, settled for $2.125 million. Third-placed Branden Grace bagged $1.5 million and fourth-place Paul Casey returned home with $1.05. LIV events don’t have a cut and thus Sihwan Kim, who finished 48th in the table, won $120,000 for his efforts.
