How much will golfers win at the 2023 Hero Indian Open? Prize money payout explored
The DP World Tour returns to India this week for the 2023 Hero Indian Open. The tournament, held at the DLF Golf and Country Club in New Delhi, will be the third consecutive European Tour event in Asia.
The Indian Open marks the 13th event of the 2023-2023 DP World Tour schedule. The event is scheduled to tee off on Thursday, February 23. The Indian event will have a set purse of $2 million.
According to the European tour’s prize money distribution chart’s 17 per cent payout, the winner of the event will win a paycheck of $340,000.
The Indian Open will feature a 132-player field headlined by the likes of Robert MacIntyre, Thorbjorn Olesen and Sami Valimaki, among others. The four-day event will have a 36-hole cut that ensures pay for the top 65 players and ties.
While the winner will take $340,000 home, the runner-up will settle for a $220,000 payout. Third and fourth-placed golfers will return home with $125,200 and $100,000 respectively. Meanwhile, the golfer finishing 65th will earn $4,800 for his efforts.

Apart from the prize money, the Indian Open winner will also earn approximately 16 Official World Golf Ranking points. The winner will also be eligible for a two-plus season exemption on the European Tour.
The event will have a total of 2,750 Race to Dubai points on offer to the full field. The winner of the Indian Open will bag 460 Race to Dubai points to add to the season-long Race to Dubai. The top eight players in the points standings after the season will earn exciting prizes from the Race to Dubai bonus pool.
