"I don’t care about the LIV stuff”- Keegan Bradley refuses to play politics for Ryder Cup team picks
Keegan Bradley was recently announced as the captain of Team USA for the 2025 Ryder Cup. The captaincy was passed on from Zach Johnson, who led the team in the 2023 edition of the biennial tournament.
The 2025 Ryder Cup will be held on US soil, at Bethpage Black in New York. As such, the pressure is on Keegan Bradley to form a team capable of reclaiming the title from Team Europe. During his Ryder Cup captaincy press conference, Bradley pledged to do everything in his power to assemble the best possible team.
Here's what he said, according to golf reporter Bob Harig:
"I don't care about the LIV stuff.''
Regardless of whether they are competing on the PGA Tour or LIV Golf, he stated that his only concern is fielding the top 12 players. He was further quoted as saying, (via X @/NUCLRGolf):
“I’m going to have the 12 best players on the team. I don’t care where they play.”
Brooks Koepka was the only LIV Golfer to make the US Ryder Cup team in 2023. The European team, on the other hand, did not allow any LIV Golfers to be a part of their team.
Keegan Bradley aims to be a playing captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup- "I want to play"
Keegan Bradley's announcement as Ryder Cup captain came without any warning. He received the call from Zach Johnson and Seth Waugh, the CEO of the PGA of America. After the announcement, Bradley has maintained that he would like to remain a playing captain for the 2025 edition.
Speaking via NUCLR Golf, he said:
“I want to play on the team, I feel I’m still in the prime of my career and want to play.”
Keegan Bradley's announcement as captain came after Tiger Woods reportedly rejected the position. Woods was the top favorite to become captain but he declined the position due to several other commitments.
Woods currently has a lot on his plate outside the golf course. He is the only member on the PGA Tour policy board that is currently a part of the PGA Tour and PIF negotiations for the merger agreement. He is also looking forward to the launch of his TGL league, which was co-founded by Rory McIlroy.
