“I don’t play golf for the money”: Charley Hull responds to a reporter’s question about money popping into her mind at the CME Group Tour Championship
After finishing T2 at The Annika earlier this month, English professional Charley Hull returned to the golf course to compete at the 2024 CME Group Tour Championship. While Hull did not win this tournament, she had a decent outing overall.
However, one of the notable moments in Hull's campaign at the CME Group Tour Championship came when she clearly stated her stance on a reporter's question about money. After Round 3 ended, Hull was asked if money would pop into her mind when she plays Round 4 on Sunday.
The 2-time LPGA Tour winner said:
"No, not at all. I don't play golf for the money; I play golf for the trophies. I just want to go out there and win no matter what the paycheck is. Obviously grateful for it being $4 million. But I want enjoy it out here. I won round here before, so just go out there and feel confident."
While Charley Hull did not win the event on Sunday, November 20th, she still managed to register a top-20 finish as she ended up in.T16. Over the course of four rounds at the Tiburon Golf Club, Hull shot 73-66-66-72 to achieve this finish.
