"I don’t think it’s officially hit us yet" - Scottie Scheffler and wife Meredith excited to welcome baby
Scottie Scheffler is the man of the hour in the world of golf. He has won four of his last five tournaments in a formidable display of dominance. Even more impressive, the last two he won were under the expectation that his first child could be born any day now.
Scheffler and his wife, Meredith, are expecting their first child, and the due date is just a week away. Nevertheless, the World No. 1 not only decided to honor his commitment to the 2024 RBC Heritage, but won the event with a three-stroke lead.
Of course, the topic of the upcoming birth of his son took up space during the winner's press conference. Here's what Scottie Scheffler had to say:
"I was talking to Meredith on the phone last night, and we were both kind of like, ‘I don’t think it’s officially hit us yet that we’re going to be parents.’ I’ll definitely be leaning on my parents for a good amount of advice. They did a great job raising me and my three sisters."
"They’re still a big part of our lives. This will be their second grandchild and they’ll have their third one on the way right after that … It’s an exciting time for Meredith and me, it’s an exciting time for the rest of our family. We’re looking forward to this next journey in our life together."
Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scudder began dating in high school, and have carried their relationship through to the present day. They tied the knot in 2020.
When is Scottie Scheffler's wife's due date?
While the exact date Scottie Scheffler and Meredith Scudder's first child is expected to be born has not been revealed, it has been said that it is scheduled to occur this April, shortly after The Masters. In other words, it could happen at any time now.
Scheffler has made several statements about how excited he and his wife and family are about the arrival of the new baby. This will undoubtedly affect his schedule, but it may not have such a big impact.
The next stop on the PGA Tour will be the Zurich Classic of New Orleans next weekend, but Scheffler is not scheduled to play there. It will be followed by the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, which is based in Dallas, Texas, the same city where Scottie and Meredith Scheffler reside, so the player will not have to travel far to play it.
The following week, the sixth Signature Event of the season, the Wells Fargo Championship, will be played. Scheffler certainly intends not to miss this important tournament, but by that time (May 9 to 12), his son should have been born to the happiness of the whole family.
