“I feel sorry for his wife” - Paige Spiranac roasts Phil Mickelson over his ‘4 inches of ankle’ comment
Paige Spiranac and Phil Mickelson have not been on good terms ever since the social media influencer was blocked by the LIV golfer. Both have once again got into hot water.
Mickelson recently tweeted about Sam Ryder's outfit at the Farmers Insurance Open, saying:
"The tour doesn't allow shorts but does allow this week's leader to wear joggers with ankle socks? Showing 4 inches of the ankle? I'm no fashion guy, never will be, but there are some things I won't ever understand."
Paige Spiranac took a savage jab at the six-time major winner on her podcast, Playing a Round. The golf influencer said:
"People were roasting Sam about his joggers. Phil Mickelson, which I didn’t see because I’m blocked, but people were posting about it. Phil Mickelson even had this tweet saying, ‘How can you show four inches of skin?’ Also, if Phil thinks that’s four inches, I feel sorry for his wife.”
Paige Spiranac further added:
"He (Sam) was showing maybe an inch of ankle, they weren’t super tight, thought he looked good but it just shows how incredibly frustrating golf Twitter can be that they were so bothered by Sam Ryder wearing joggers.”
Spiranac also shared Phil Mickelson's tweet he made on Thursday, where he wrote:
"Ma'am, we are speaking guy talk. This isn't directed towards you."
In response, Paige jotted:
"Sums up my life in the golf industry lol."
However, Mickelson is yet to reply to Paige Spiranac's comments publicly.
"It was kind of upsetting"- Paige Spiranac when Phil Mickelson blocked her
Last February, Phil Mickelson blocked Paige Spiranac on Twitter by mistake. However, the social media sensation came to know that he blocked her on purpose.
Spiranac confessed that she was a fan of Mickelson and believed him to be a 'really nice guy."
However, Spiranac's thoughts changed as the LIV golfer blocked her on Twitter. She explained that he blocked her on purpose and it was upsetting. Paige said:
"I kind of made a little bit of a stink about it because it was so weird. If I should be blocked by someone, it should be somebody like Bryson. I have publicly criticized Bryson and that’s kind of it. I’m actually a fairly pro player. I try to see both sides of it, I try to give people the benefit of the doubt, and I’ve never said anything bad about Phil and so I was like ‘I just don’t get this’. It was kind of upsetting.”
Speaking about her relationship with Phil Mickelson, the American star added:
"I met Phil years prior. He was really nice. A year later, I saw him at the Phoenix Open. I always thought there was like a fine relationship between us. I was like, ‘Let’s go Phil,’ gassing him up, saying the nicest things about him, but then I was looking [on social media] and I was like, ‘I can’t freaking tag him. Why can’t I tag him?’ So, I was looking and looking and I clicked on somebody else’s tag and it said ‘blocked’.
"He DM’d me the next day and he was like, ‘I’m sorry, I don’t know what happened. It must have been a glitch in the system’ and I was like, ‘Okay, fine, congrats on your PGA win’. Next day, blocked again. Not only that but he blocked me on Instagram, too… I am anti-Phil now because that’s just pig-s**t.
"Now I just say whatever about Phil because I think he’s a little – I can already see the headlines now, ‘Paige says Phil’s fake’ - but I think he is.”
