"I figured some good stuff out" - Bryson DeChambeau looking forward to 2024 US Open
Bryson DeChambeau already has his eyes on the next Major tournament. Following a second-place finish at the PGA Championship, the LIV Golf star is looking ahead positively to the U.S. Open.
He's been in pretty good form at Majors in 2024, and he's looking for the next chance to add a second trophy to his mantle, which will come next month.
Via The Guardian, DeChambeau said that he had a good enough swing to play anywhere:
"I’ve learned I can play golf with my golf swing even when I’m not hitting it well. When I’m hitting it well, I have got to take advantage. I wasn’t able to do that at Augusta, my putting failed me. But then clearly I putted well here. I figured some good stuff out. Just got to remember those things and use that for the US Open. I’m excited for Pinehurst," he said.
The golf world will fix its eyes on Pinehurst next month as the U.S. Open returns. DeChambeau will be part of the field and he's excited about where his game stands.
The golfer did admit to having his B game overall at the PGA Championship, though his putting was as good as it has been. He concluded that his wedging and short game were both excellent, while his driving left some to be desired.
"I shot 20 under par in a Major championship," DeChambeau said. "Proud of myself for the way I handled adversity. Definitely disappointing, but one that gives me a lot of momentum for the rest of the majors. I said this was closing time, but it will be closing time hopefully over the next couple of Majors."
DeChambeau put together an incredible performance that, under normal circumstances, would have been worthy of a trophy. 20 under par in any Major championship is impressive. It just came the same weekend that Xander Schauffele shot 21 under. It also included a clutch birdie.
DeChambeau was trailing and was a few holes ahead of Schauffele, but he birdied the 18th hole to bring it to a tie. All he could do then was hope for Schauffele to either par out or bogey. Through the 17th hole, Schauffele was still at 20 under, but he birdied the 18th for the win.
Bryson DeChambeau's odds for U.S. Open title win
Bryson DeChambeau wasn't one of the top favorites entering the PGA Championship, but he put on a show and nearly won. The odds for the upcoming U.S. Open don't list him as one of the betting favorites, but he does still have a very strong chance.
According to Vegas Insider, Scottie Scheffler is the favorite with +400. The rest of the odds are as follows:
- Rory McIlroy +1100
- Xander Schauffele +1200
- Viktor Hovland +1600
- Jon Rahm +1600
- Bryson DeChambeau +1800

DeChambeau has the best odds of any LIV golfer in the tournament.
