“I had goosebumps” – Justin Thomas says his hole out at PGA Championship round 3 was ‘one of the coolest moments’ of his career

Justin Thomas put on an amazing show for his hometown audience at the 2024 PGA Championship. After making the cut at the Major, the American golfer holed a flop shot for birdie in the event's third round. Fans went crazy seeing the shot and cheered for the former Major winner.

On the par-3 14th hole, Thomas took his first shot, and the ball went into the rough. However, he managed to hole out from the back for a birdie, making a quick jump on the leaderboard. Following the tournament, the 31-year-old American golfer spoke to the media about his performance. The American golfer described it as one of the "coolest moments" of his career.

Speaking of his shot on the 14th hole of the Valhalla Golf Course, Thomas said (via Golf Digest):

"It was crazy. I had goosebumps for pretty much right up until I got to 15 tee. As you know, it's not exactly cool outside. It was one of the coolest moments of my career. It was unbelievable."

It is important to note that the 2024 PGA Championship is underway in Louisville, Kentucky, Justin Thomas's birthplace. However, he currently resides in Jupiter, Florida. Playing in his hometown, Thomas has been extremely careful with his game.

Following the tournament's third round on Saturday, May 18, Thomas settled in a tie for tenth place with Lee Hodges, Harris English, Thomas Detry, Tony Finau, and Austin Eckroat, with a score of 10 under par. Entering the final round just five strokes behind the leaders Xander Schauffele and Collin Morikawa, it will be interesting to see if Thomas can win the PGA Championship again for the third time in his career.

Justin Thomas has won two Majors in his career, both at the PGA Championship. His maiden Major win was in 2017, and he won the tournament again in 2022.

Justin Thomas is excited to compete in the final round of the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla Golf Course. The Major's finale is slated for Sunday, May 19.

After the third round, Thomas opened up about his game and expressed his anticipation for the event's fourth round.

"Actually, this week has exceeded all my expectations. It's been better. It's been more fun. It's been more enjoyable than anything I really thought or could have imagined. I mean, I'm very, very excited for tomorrow, and it should be a lot of fun. But I'm pretty bummed that the week is almost over. Just enjoy tomorrow as much as I can and see what happens," said Thomas (via Golf Digest).

Thomas began the Major with a round of 69, followed by two rounds of 67, scoring -10. The final round will start at 7:45 a.m. ET, with Jeremy Wells and Alejandro Tosti taking the day's first shot. Thomas will tee off with Tony Finau at 1:35 p.m. ET.
