"I know how to win" - Justin Thomas takes aggressive approach going into final round of Zozo Championship
On Saturday, October 26, Justin Thomas carded a 5-under 65 in the third round of the Zozo Championship. Following the third round, he is quite close to ending his winning drought, which he believes he can do despite not winning for a long time.
Thomas' last win came at the PGA Championship two years ago. Since then, not only has he failed to add another trophy to his cabinet, but he also lost his form and even missed the playoffs last year. However, this year has been slightly better, and this week he might finally end his title drought.
During the post-round interview, Thomas said the past two years were tough, but it's never easy to win. He said:
"If you're fortunate enough to have a couple hot streaks in your career, whatever it may be, it can not only seem or look easier to yourself but everybody else as well."
"At the end of the day it has been a while, but I've still won a pretty good amount of golf tournaments. I know how to win. It's just a matter of executing and doing it and that's really been the biggest difference. There's a reason there's only one every week. You have to do a lot of things really well and you have to beat a lot of really good players."
The 15-time winner on the PGA Tour added that he had faith in himself, but the other players' performances weren't in his hands.
"I've just got to play the best I can and believe that it will be good enough," he added.
Justin Thomas takes the joint lead at the Zozo Championship halfway through the final round
Halfway through the fourth round of the Zozo Championship, Justin Thomas has moved into a tie for the lead at 18 under.
Thomas entered the final round two strokes back, but three birdies on the front nine put him at the top alongside the 54-hole leader, Nico Echavarria. The Colombian golfer picked up two birdies but also bogeyed one hole and was 1-under for the day after 11 holes.
Max Greyserman fired four birdies on the front nine to jump two spots and move to a joint lead at 18-under. At the time of writing, he still has eight holes to play, and if he continues this run, he might seal his maiden PGA Tour title.
