“I’m excited to return to the DP World Tour”: Billy Horschel details 2024 plans after being denied Presidents Cup entry

Billy Horschel did not make it onto the Presidents Cup roster. He would have had to be selected by captain Jim Furyk as he wasn't ranked among the top six to automatically qualify. He also wasn't in the top 12, which is how the selections ended up going.

Horschel stated on X (formerly Twitter) that he's had a few days to reflect on the 2024 season on the Tour. All in all, he called it a "gratifying" season. The first half of last season was a "tough time", but Horschel said he never lost belief or the desire to work things out.

He wrote:

"I credit the momentum I built at the back half of ‘23 that led to the improvement in my game and results in ‘24."

The American golfer shared his appreciation for his team and their hard work. They put in a lot of effort to make him a better player and person. Horschel said that golf may seem to be an individual sport, but that it is "far" from the case. He added:

"I’m lucky to have what I feel and believe is the best team in golf. We are excited to continue our improvement and build on our ‘24 season in ‘25. But before we close the chapter on ‘24, I’m excited to return to the DP World Tour for a few events over the next month."

While the Presidents Cup won't have Billy Horschel this month, select DP World Tour events will be graced by his presence in the meantime.

Billy Horschel reveals back injury from BMW Championship

While Billy Horschel will be back this month, he will not play the Amgen Irish Open. The American had plans to participate in the tournament next week, but a recently sustained back injury will prevent that from happening.

He wrote on X (as part of his tweet embed above detailing his plans):

"Unfortunately, I sustained a minor back/rib injury early in the week at BMW Championship that carried on last week at Tour Championship. My body needs another week to recover so the injury doesn’t continue to linger."

The golfer went on to say he's disappointed to miss the Irish Open because he "enjoyed and loved" his time at the tournament last year. He said the Irish fans were "unbelievable."

He added:

"I will be watching and wishing nothing but the best for the everyone involved with the tournament."

If his health permits, he will return for the BMW PGA Championship and then play Alfred Dunhill Links before the FedEx Open de France.
