"I’m looking forward to the challenge" - Davis Riley under pressure to fend of Scottie Scheffler going into final round of Charles Schwab Challenge
Davis Riley is looking forward to the challenge as he heads into the final round of the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge. The PGA Tour event at the Colonial Country Club is underway, and after three rounds, Riley tops the leaderboard with a score of 14-under, four strokes ahead of Scottie Scheffler.
The final round of the event will take place on Sunday, May 26, and Riley is confident about playing well and winning. In an interview on Saturday, Riley acknowledged that Scheffler would be a threat on Sunday, given the World No. 1's impressive form this season.
Scheffler has won four events in 2024, including the Masters, and is also a favorite bet to win this week. However, Riley is also playing well this week and looking forward to the challenge in the final round.
Speaking of Scottie Scheffler, Riley said (via PGA Tour):
"I’ve known Scottie for a long time and played a lot of junior golf with him, college golf, and he obviously is playing some really good golf right now. So he’s going to come out swinging, but I’m looking forward to the challenge, and it will be a fun day competing out there.”
It is important to note that Scottie Scheffler jumped 13 positions on the leaderboard after playing a fabulous round of 63 on Saturday. He settled for a total of under par 10 followed by Hayden Buckley in a tie for third place with Pierceson Coody.
