“I’m not sure how to take this” – Adam Hadwin left confused as a fan took a jibe at Max Homa with his name
Max Homa caused some confusion on Monday (August 26) with a social media post. The Englishman took to his X (formerly Twitter) account and claimed that a person recently called him ‘Adam,’ which isn’t his name or nickname. The golfer joked about taking it in a positive sense as the person might’ve mistaken him for ‘Adam Scott.’
Homa, who only got back on X last week after a short hiatus, was flooded with comments on how the fan could’ve meant a different Adam. Many fans jokingly claimed that the person might’ve referred to Adam Sandler, who played a golfer in Happy Gilmore. Interestingly, another fan came out to tag PGA Tour star Adam Hadwin under the post and claimed that the person could’ve meant him as well.
Hadwin, who was seemingly dragged into the conversation, quickly noted that he was “not sure how to take this.” The Canadian’s comment was received with laughter as fans claimed that a person mistaking Homa for Hadwin is funny.
Here is the full exchange, starting with Max Homa’s original tweet:
“A lady called me Adam when I was picking up my lunch today. I can only assume she thought I was Adam Scott. Things are really looking up.”
Musician and golf fan Sam Harrop replied and tagged Hadwin:
“Sorry to shatter your dreams, but gotta be a mixup with Adam Hadwin.”
Adam Hadwin wrote in response:
“I’m not sure how to take this…”
Max Homa is yet to respond to the comment. Notably, the golfer started the hilarious exchange with a confusing tweet without confirming which Adam the person mistook him for.
Max Homa defends Adam Sandler amid the confusion
Max Homa, who returned to X after over a month’s break, came in with his razor-sharp wit to defend Adam Sandler’s golf game in Happy Gilmore. In response to his ‘Adam’ tweet, a fan took a jibe at the PGA Tour pro and figured the fan must have mistaken him for Sandler.
Referring to the actor’s character in the movie, they wrote:
“Or Adam Sandler because your game is starting to look like his?”
Homa, who is known for his witty responses online, jumped in and was quick to defend 'Happy Gilmore.' The six-time PGA Tour winner referred to the character’s gold jacket (a play of Green Jacket) win in the movie while shutting the ‘troll’ down.
Home wrote while responding in less than 40 minutes:
“He won a gold jacket, Craig. Read a freakin book.”
The response was well received by the fans who laughed out loud in the comments section. While many lauded the player for the hilarious response to defend the fictional character, some used the moment to welcome the ever-sarcastic player back to the online world.
