“I roll the ball right-handed” – When Tiger Woods explained the power hand he prefers for putting

Tiger Woods once revealed the secret to his success by highlighting his power hand. The American is one of the most successful golfers of all time, with 15 Major titles and 82 PGA Tour wins.

However, in an interview with CBS in 2010, Woods unveiled how his hand helped him in his game. Speaking of his power hand, the five-time Masters winner stated that different players prefer to play with different hands, but for him, the "feel all comes" in his "right hand." He said (via CBS YouTube at 3:06):

"For me, my feel all comes in my right hand, whereas Dave Stockton promotes the left hand, the lead hand; that was his feel hand. Different players are different things. One of my best friends out here is Steve Stricker. He putts nothing but with his left hand; his right hand is just along for the ride, and I'm the exact opposite of that.
"I just think that, for me, I roll the ball right-handed; I'm right-handed. I can roll the ball better with my right hand, and that's always been my feel, whereas other players are different," he added.

Tiger Woods has enjoyed remarkable success on the PGA Tour for almost the last three decades of his professional career. He started playing professionally in 1996 and has so far won over 100 tournaments.

However, the American was involved in a brutal accident in 2021 and has since been struggling with his game. He now rarely plays in professional events and generally limits his outings to Majors.

Woods has limited his outings to Majors and only a few other golf events in recent years. In 2024, he has only competed in five events but missed the cut in three of them.

He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational. He only made the cut at the Masters but still struggled with his game and finished in 60th place.

Last season, Woods had only played in two tournaments and withdrew from the Masters. He was tied for T45 at the Genesis Invitational and finished 18th at the Hero World Challenge.

In the 2021-22 PGA Tour, he played in three tournaments and missed the cut in one of them. He finished in 47th place at the Masters and withdrew from the PGA Championship. He missed the cut at the 2022 Open Championship.

Tiger Woods last played at the 2024 Open Championship and has been on a break since. He is not likely to return to compete at the Hero World Challenge later this year.
