“I think I’m going back to school" - NCAA champion Adela Cernousek reflects on advancing at LPGA Qualifying as an amateur

NCAA champion Adela Cernousek was co-medaled at the LPGA second stage qualifying along with Mimi Rhodes. However, like Ingrid Lindblad, Cernousek won't turn professional and will return to her school instead.

Cernousek reflected on the same and discussed her upcoming plan, via Golfweek.

“I think I'm going back to school and staying amateur…I think that's the plan,” Cernousek said.

Around 43 golfers advanced to the final stage of the LPGA Q-school qualification. Amongst them, four were amateurs, and three of those four were part of the WAGR (World Amateur Golf Rankings) top 10. The final qualification will take place 5-9 December. The amateur deadline for final qualification is 15 November.

England’s Rhodes, who shot a 65 at the LPGA qualifying at the Plantation Golf and Country Club and was co-medaled with Cernousek, said:

“I mean, looking back after I graduated, I would never have imagined myself in this position, you know, shooting so many low scores…I'm just over the moon, and I've worked hard to be here, and I'm just glad that it's finally paid off.”

Zoe Antoinette Campos and Jeg Coughlin also secured the next stage of the LPGA Q-school qualification. Following that, Antoinette Campos expressed her exaltation, via Yahoo Sports:

“I think turning professional, it's a really big step, and it's been a dream of mine…Just to know that I'll be on tour either way, it's a really big accomplishment. No matter where I end up, I'm looking forward to growing and just seeing where I'll be.”

The top 45 and ties will get the LPGA Tour card following the conclusion of the LPGA Q-Series.
