"I've become a lot better of a person"- Billy Horschel credits DP World Tour for improving his game and making him a better person

Billy Horschel is a PGA Tour standout, but he plays frequently on the DP World Tour as well. Most golfers play primarily on one or the other. European players that are on the PGA Tour often have to play events to be Ryder Cup eligible, but that's not the case for Horschel. He just likes the tour.

He said ahead of the DP World Tour Championship that the European tour has made him a better player as well as a better person. Horschel said (via ASAP Sports):

"Oh, by far a better golfer. I mean, I think I've improved my game in conditions like playing in The Open Championship and going and playing Dunhill and doing that more often. I've become a lot better of a person, I guarantee you that, by having to understand different cultures."

The language barrier has been a big aid in Horschel's growth. He said it's been a challenge trying to communicate with people who don't speak English like he does, and it's forced him to grow as a person.

He added:

"Listen, it's made me a better person all around, as well as in my golf game. That's why I said I think it's better for people to travel because you go grow as a person and it does help your golf game but I think the biggest thing is you do grow as a person."

Horschel is in the field this weekend against Rory McIlroy, Tyrrell Hatton, Alex Fitzpatrick, Joaquin Niemann, and several other members of the PGA Tour, DP World Tour, and even LIV Golf.

Billy Horschel praises DP World Tour ahead of championship

It's DP World Tour Championship week, and Billy Horschel was interviewed on Tuesday. He was caught saying possessive pronouns about the tour, like "we" and "ours," as well as pronouns that indicate his outsider status ("theirs," for example).

Horschel said that sometimes he considers himself a member of the DP World Tour despite actually being a PGA Tour member. He went on to explain, praising the tour (via ASAP Sports):

"I support this tour. I love this tour. I think the world of this tour. But at the same time, I don't support this tour 20-plus events out of the year."

He said the PGA Tour is "obviously" his primary tour, but he wants to ensure "these guys understand how special this tour is," adding that he thinks very highly of the competitors.

Horschel knows it's below the PGA Tour on the global scale, but he doesn't think there's another better tour out there:

"Quality and talent-wise, I think it's the second-best tour in the world, and you see it on a regular basis."

Billy Horschel finished by saying that every time he plays an event he is reminded of that fact and grows more impressed with the players.
