“I watched them film” - Dustin Johnson opens up on why he won’t watch Netflix’s Full Swing despite starring in it
Netflix’s golf documentary series Full Swing, based on the lives of professional golfers in 2022, became a hit. The docuseries is currently making headlines with its various storylines. One of the stars of the series is LIV Golf’s controversial star, Dustin Johnson. Despite starring in it, the golfer has now revealed that he has no interest in watching the series.
The Netflix series documented the lives of several big names in the sport, who’ve since shown interest in watching it. However, Johnson has a different opinion. The two-time major champion, who appeared in Episode 5 alongside U.S. Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick, has revealed that he has “zero” interest in watching the final product as he “watched them film.”
Responding to media queries on whether he’d watch his Full Swing episode, Dustin Johnson said, as quoted by GolfWeek:
“Probably not. I’m just being honest. I watched them film me, so I don’t need to watch the episode.”
It is pertinent to note that Johnson was one of the biggest names to defect to LIV Golf from the PGA Tour. The 38-year-old won LIV’s inaugural regular-season title and led his 4Aces to the team championship. Johnson bagged around $35 million in total, becoming one of the highest-earning golfers in the world.
He also became an unofficial spokesperson for the Saudi-backed series led by Greg Norman. Johnson openly slammed the PGA Tour and its players on multiple occasions.
The golfer will now be looking to continue his stellar form in his second year on LIV Golf, which kickstarts at Mayakoba’s El Camaleón Golf Course on Mexico’s Riviera Maya this week.
Paulina Gretzky defends husband Dustin Johnson in Full Swing
Dustin Johnson was seen in the fifth episode of Full Swing. The golfer was joined by his wife Paulina Gretzky in several scenes in the series. Gretzky made up for some explosive remarks as she went all out on the show to defend her husband and his game.
Speaking in the episode titled 'American Dreams', Paulina slammed people questioning Johnson. Stating that the golfer was still on top of his game, the star wife said that he is “still ready to show you who the f*** he is.”
Speaking on the series, Paulina Gretzky said:
“If anyone thinks that Dustin’s lost his competitive spirit, they don’t know Dustin well enough because he is still ready to show you who the f*** he is and there’s a reason why he’s going back to play these majors. He wants to win this just as much as they do.”
She went on to add that her husband was right in choosing to defect to the Saudi-backed series as well.
Paulina said:
“I don’t think Dustin would ever make a bad choice for his children and people need to understand at the end of the day, that’s what he chose this for.”
It is pertinent to note that the episode started with Dustin Johnson’s decision-making process surrounding LIV Golf.
