In pictures: Jon Rahm welcomes his daughter Alaia Cahill with adorable photos
The day before the start of the Open de EspaƱa at the Club de Campo Villa de Madrid, it was announced that Jon Rahm and his wife Kelley had welcomed their third child. Almost a week later, Rahm's fans got to meet the newborn.
Rahm shared pictures of the baby girl with his 344,000+ followers on X (formerly Twitter), revealing that her name is Alaia Cahill Rahm. The two-time Major champion captioned the post:
"So blessed to have welcomed our daughter Alaia Cahill Rahm into the world last week. Mama and baby girl are both healthy and doing great, I can't wait to get back home to them."
The name of Jon Rahm's newborn daughter (Alaia) is a Basque name of Arabic and Hebrew origin. The name means 'well born' and 'sublime'.
Rahm is currently in Scotland playing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. It is the second event of the season for him on the DP World Tour and he needs to play two more to keep his Tour card.
DP World Tour membership is required for him to be eligible to play in the 2025 Ryder Cup. Rahm complicated that possibility by signing a contract with LIV Golf in December 2023.
Jon Rahm's family: Wife, children and more
Jon Rahm is married to Kelley Cahill, whom he met when they were both students at Arizona State University. Both were student athletes, Rahm in golf and Cahill in track and field.
The couple cemented their relationship in college and after graduating in 2017, they lived together for two years in Scottsdale, Arizona, where they still live. They married in 2019 in Bilbao, the largest city in the Basque Country, the Spanish autonomous community where Rahm is from.
Two years after their wedding, Rahm and Kelley welcomed their first child, Kepa (2021), while their second, Eneko, was born in 2022.
Rahm was born in 1994 in the Basque village of Barrika, to Edorta Rahm, also from the Basque Country, and Madrid-born Angela Rodriguez. The double Major champion has Swiss ancestry on his father's side, tracing his lineage back to a Swiss cabinetmaker who settled in the Basque Country in the late 18th or early 19th century.
Like most of his family, Rahm is a passionate supporter of Athletic Club de Bilbao, a football (soccer) team that competes in the Spanish 'La Liga'. The golfer's grandfather, Sabin, was a club delegate for more than 30 years, which contributed to his grandson's relationship with the team.
Rahm was recently invited to kick off an Athletic Club de Bilbao match. He also revealed that he kept a captain's armband from his beloved club hidden in his golf bag for a long time.
