In pictures: Lydia Ko takes LPGA Tour rivals out for grand feast ahead of South Korean event

Lydia Ko enjoyed an outing with her fellow LPGA Tour players ahead of this week's tournament in South Korea. The tour golfers are gearing up to compete at the 2024 BMW Ladies Championship event, which will take place from 17 to 20 October at Seowon Hills in South Korea. Ahead of the tournament, the players took some time to enjoy a Korean BBQ.

The LPGA Tour shared pictures of the players' outing on its Instagram account. The snaps featured Ko, along with other players, including Celine Boutier, Rose Zhang, Alexa Pano, and others.

Posting the pictures on Instagram, the LPGA Tour wrote in the caption:

Lydia Ko will start her campaign at the BMW Ladies Championship on Thursday, 17 October. She has so far enjoyed a successful season on the circuit, competing in 17 events and making the cut in 15. The Kiwi golfer recorded seven finishes in the top 10 and won three tournaments.

Moreover, she also won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and earned a spot in the LPGA Hall of Fame. Speaking of her achievement at the Olympics, Ko said, via Golf Week:

“Did I imagine that I was going to do it at the Paris Olympics? Probably not. But this is definitely the coolest way to do it. You know, not going to lie, I was gutted when I lost in the playoff in Bradenton.”

Ko has also enjoyed a successful season on the LPGA Tour this year. She started off her campaign with a victory at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. She then finished runner-up at the LPGA Drive On Championship. She also won a Major at the AIG Women's Open and registered a victory at the Kroger Queen City Championship.

Meanwhile, this week's BMW LPGA Championship will feature a stellar field that includes Ayaka Furue, Danielle Kang, Lydia Ko, and Maja Stark. It will be a four-day event.

The tournament became part of the LPGA Tour in 2019. Initially, when it started in 2015, it was part of the LPGA of Korea. In 2019 and 2021, the LPGA and the LPGA of Korea co-sponsored the event before it finally became part of the LPGA Tour in 2022.
