International Series head looking forward to promoting 'life-changing ticket' into LIV Golf, taking inspiration from John Caitlin
The LIV Golf League Promotions event, which witnessed three golfers gain access the Saudi-backed event last year, is set to take place once again this year. However, this time around, there will be a change as only one player will make their way to LIV at the event, which will be held at the Riyadh Golf Club in December.
It's also important to note that while one golfer will get a spot in LIV Golf, the top 10 finishers at the League Promotions event will gain exemption into all the International Series events on the Asian Tour in 2025. In a media interaction, Rahul Singh, who heads the International Series, spoke about inspiration from John Catlin.
He said (via Flushing It):
"John’s success in a number of LIV events as a reserve this season is proof of the quality of play that we see each week on The International Series. As we crown a 2024 International Series champion later this fall and look to the highly anticipated LIV Golf Promotions, one deserving player will have the chance to punch their life-changing ticket to the LIV Golf League.”
For those unaware, John Catlin has played a crucial role when it comes to the International Series, offering Asian Tour golfers a chance to get into LIV. Earlier this year, Catlin received an invite to the International Series Macau event, and made the most out of this invitation.
Catlin made history as he shot a round of 59 at the event, which was also the first sub-60 round in Asian Tour history. The American even went on to win the tournament by beating David Puig in a playoff, and was eventually selected by Bryson DeChambeau to fill in for Charles Howell, who suffered an injury.
