Is there a cut line at the 2024 BMW Championship? All you need to know

While many golf tournaments feature a cut line, the BMW Championship does not have one. This means that all 50 golfers will be playing on all four days of the event that will wrap up on August 25, 2024.

The 2024 BMW Championship kick-started on August 22, 2024 at the Castle Pines Golf Club in Denver. The tournament will serve as the second round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Out of the 75 golfers who competed at the St. Jude Championship, the top 50 have qualified for the BMW Championship. The top 30 players at this tournament will advance to the Tour Championship at East Lake at the end of this month.

The golfer winning this competition will be awarded 2000 FedEx Cup points, while the last place finisher will receive 34 points. The prize purse is $20 million and the winner's share will be $3.6 million. Currently, US golfer Scottie Scheffler is leading the points table with 6,533 points going into the BMW Championship. Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Rory McIlroy, and Collin Morikawa complete the top five of the FedEx Cup points table.

The 2024 BMW Championship features a field of 50 top golfers. Japanese golfer Hideki Matsuyama won the St. Jude Championship and will look to keep his form going. He jumped from eighth to third place in the points table after his victory. Northern Irish golfer Rory McIlroy and US golfer Collin Morikawa are also part of the top 5 in the FedEx Cup points table.

US golfer Xander Schauffele stands second in the rankings with 5,037 points. He has had a phenomenal year and has won two major titles. He has been a consistent performer in 2024, and finished T2 at the St. Jude Championship.

However, the favorite to win has to be world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who has been enjoying one of the best seasons of his career. He has six PGA Tour wins to his name this year. He won the Masters, as well as the PGA Championship, and also bagged the gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. He is also leading the FedEx Cup standings with 6,533 points.

Depending on where Scheffler finishes, only Schauffele can possibly bump him from the top spot this week. Viktor Hovland of Norway, the defending champion of the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship, is also in the mix of players at the event and will be looking to defend his title.
