Is there a cut line at the 2024 Open Championship? Rules explored
The fourth and final Major of the year, the 2024 Open Championship, is all set to take place from July 18 to 21 at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland. The tournament boasts a prize purse of $17 million and will see some of the best golfers in the world compete for the prestigious trophy.
The likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele and Viktor Hovland are just some of the top golfers in the field this weekend, which will have to survive a cut which takes place after the first two rounds to make a run for the trophy.
The cut for the Open Championship is determined based on the scores of the players. The top 70 golfers including ties will make the cut into the weekend. There is no 10-stroke rule at the Open Championship, which states that all golfers within 10 strokes of the leader will make the cut.
The top 70 golfers (including ties) will then play two more rounds. The golfer with the lowest score at the end of four rounds will win the Open Championship. There will only be one cut at the Open Championship.
