Is Tiger Woods playing on his own course at the 2024 World Wide Technology Championship? Availability explored

The 2024 World Wide Technology Championship will take place at the Tiger Woods-designed El Cardonal Golf Course in Diamante, but the veteran golfer won't be participating in the event.

The 2024 World Wide Technology Championship is the sixth event of the FedEx Cup Fall and will feature 144 players in action for the $8.2 million purse. However, Woods will continue to remain out of action for this event as well.

The 15-time Major champion was last seen competing at the Open Championship and has been out of action since then. During the US Open, he had stated that he would only play until the final Major of the year.

Woods underwent back surgery in September to deal with his back issues. Although he is not available at the World Wide Technology Championship, the playing field will feature several notable names in action.

Here are a few big names competing this week:

  • Cameron Young
  • Max Greyserman
  • Lucas Glover
  • Austin Eckroat
  • Tom Hoge
  • Harris English
  • Ben Griffin
  • Taylor Moore
  • Maverick McNealy
  • Erik van Rooyen

Tiger Woods was last seen competing at the Open Championship, where he missed the cut after shooting 79 and 77 in the opening two rounds. This was his third consecutive missed cut of the season and his third in the last six Open Championship appearances.

Unlike last year, the 82-time PGA Tour winner participated in all four Majors in 2024. However, his performance was underwhelming, as he missed the cut in three of them. The 48-year-old did make it to the final rounds of the Masters Tournament for the record 24th consecutive time.

Woods will host the Hero World Challenge next month at Albany. Notably, it is one of two events he hosts on the PGA Tour. He has competed in the PNC Championship for several years with his son Charlie, but his participation this time will depend on his recovery from back surgery.

Tiger Woods has been on a title drought for five seasons, with his last win coming in 2019 at the Zozo Championship. For the uninitiated, he is just one win away from surpassing Sam Snead as the winningest player in PGA Tour history.
