"It was so bad" - Fred Couples brands LIV broadcast as unwatchable
American professional golfer Fred Couples, who won 64 professional tournaments, including the 1992 Masters Tournament, recently commented on LIV golf's broadcast quality.
Fred revealed that he saw the league's television broadcast on the CW. He rated its quality as 'bad'.
"I turned it on three times. It was so bad, I couldn't even watch anyone that I liked. They don't show them...Who won the last one? I don't even know."
Since the induction of the LIV Golf league, the world of professional golf has been in splits. Veterans such as Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and many others joined the league after they lured them with lucrative money.
Fred Couples, a World Golf Hall of Famer, has been reluctant about LIV Golf since its launch. He even criticized the league for offering Mickelson a whopping $200 million at the age of 52.
The first of 14 LIV Golf tournaments will be televised on the CW network this year as part of a new contract announced in January.
Fred Couples' life and career
Born on October 3, 1959, in Seattle, Washington, Fred Couples started playing golf when he was quite young. In 1977, he graduated from O'Dea High School and was later selected to the University of Houston.
Fred has won a total of 64 tournaments, out of which 15 were on the PGA Tour. He was ranked number 1 in the Official World Golf Rankings in 1992 for 16 weeks.
At the 1983 Kemper Open, Fred Couples secured his first win on the PGA Tour. He also competed in five consecutive Ryder Cups for the United States from 1989 to 1997.
Couples was nicknamed 'Boom Boom' for his incredibly accurate and long tees. His greatest achievements include the 1992 Masters Tournament and the Players Championship wins in 1984 and 1996. He also won the PGA Championship in 1990.
