"It was pretty chaotic"- Max Homa recalls the buzz of playing alongside Tiger Woods at the Masters
Max Homa recently recalled his time playing alongside Tiger Woods during the opening rounds of the Masters earlier this year. He said being paired with Woods helped him play better, describing the experience as "chaotic."
Homa is in Memphis this week for the FedEx St. Jude Championship, the first event of the FedEx Playoffs. He is currently at the bottom of the leaderboard after shooting a 78 in the second round.
Homa recently appeared as a guest on the No Laying Up Golf podcast, where he reflected on his time with Tiger Woods at Augusta. He and Woods were grouped for the first two rounds of the Masters Tournament. While Woods tied for 60th and made a record 24th consecutive cut, Homa recorded his career-best finish at Augusta by tying for third.
"I think playing with Tiger helped a lot just because it was pretty chaotic," Homa said. "When you play with Tiger it's not even just playing with him it's it's really like the buzz around it when you get the tee time like everyone texting you and it like becomes a big deal."
"And playing so well with him and then I was more nervous Saturday because that's the day I thought I could blow up and not get to chase the win, so really proud of that round, I made no birdies one bogey. It was one of the weirder rounds of golf I would have dreamt of but I was pretty proud of that."
Max Homa struggles at the FedEx St. Jude Championship
Max Homa had a nightmare of a round on Day 2 at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, carding an 8-over 78 to slip to the bottom of the leaderboard. He currently stands at 7-over after two rounds.
Max Homa entered the second round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship after shooting a 69 in the opening round. Things were under control on the front nine, which he finished at 1-over. However, on the back nine, he recorded five bogeys, one double bogey, and just one birdie to end the day at 8-over.
Max Homa is paired with Jake Knapp for the third round of the FedEx St. Jude Championship. The duo will tee off from the tenth tee on Saturday, August 17 at 11:46 a.m. ET. He is still looking for his first win of the season. For the uninitiated, his last victory came at the DP World Tour's Nedbank Golf Challenge last year.
