"It's just not my jam" - Xander Schauffele gives his take on the Creator Classic, says he's the "wrong person" to be asked questions about it

Xander Schauffele is the second-ranked golfer on the FedEx list and will play at the Tour Championship. The Tour Championship begins on Thursday at East Lake Golf Course but before that, an event called the Creator Classic will take place on Wednesday at the same venue.

This Creator Classic is a nine-hole golf competition for golf content creators. Schauffele, who'll play at the East Lake Golf Course, was asked about his thoughts on the event. He responded by saying he was "blue-collar" and "traditional", and not into social media.

“Probably the wrong person to ask for that question, to be completely honest. As I get older I've sort of learned that I'm a little more traditional, maybe more blue-collar. I'm not really big in social media. I'm a big fan of sort of -- it's just not my jam,” Schauffele said (via ASAP Sports).

He continued,

“I think influencers work really hard to put out content, and I could never do it personally. My message was always in the dirt, and for them it's pumping out content and putting their face out there and doing their thing. I know it's a lot of work to do it and it's tiring and things like that.”

He added that whatever brought viewers to golf was a good thing.

“It's going to bring more eyeballs to golf I think it's a good thing, but the whole sort of social media influencer thing, I'm going to leave it to everyone else that's my age or a little younger because they're just way better at it,” Schauffele said.

The 30-year-old will be joined by Scottie Scheffler, Patrick Cantlay, and others as the top 30 vie for the Tour Championship.
