"It's been kind of circled on my calendar" - Ludvig Aberg advances to the Tour Championship after runner-up finish at BMW Championship
Ludvig Aberg put in a performance that nearly netted him a win at the BMW Championship last weekend. Regardless, it was more than enough to move him on to the Tour Championship, something the Swedish golfer has been looking forward to for some time now.
After his victory, Aberg was asked by reporters about the fact that he is heading to this prestigious tournament in his first full season as a member of the PGA Tour.
The golfer was quoted as saying by ASAP Sports:
"Yeah, absolutely. I've looked forward to the Playoffs for a long time, and it's been kind of circled on my calendar, obviously. I think if you'd told me before the year started I'd be 5 going into or whatever it's going to be, I think I would be very happy with that, obviously. Yeah, it's been great."
Aberg tied for second with Adam Scott and Sam Burns after shooting 11 under par at Castle Pines Golf Club. He surged to number five on the FedEx Cup standings heading into this week's tournament.
Keegan Bradley got the win after two-putting the 18th and he moved all the way up to fourth. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Hideki Matsuyama remain the top three ahead of those two golfers.
Ludvig Aberg opens up on BMW Championship
Ludvig Aberg has only been on the PGA Tour for this season and a little of last season, but he's already made a name for himself and made history in various ways. His performance at the BMW Championship didn't net him a signature victory, but it does have him set up well for the Tour Championship.
He was asked about the day overall and he said he thought it was fun. Aberg added that he was obviously trying to win and felt like he was acting aggressively and that he truly gave it his best effort. It just came up a little short.
Another reporter asked Aberg whether or not he continues to learn more about himself and his game when he gets into these tight, close leaderboards. He said via ASAP Sports:
"I think so. I think what I'm most proud of is coming into this week I felt like I was not swinging very well, I was kind of struggling a little bit. Not necessarily struggling but it was just nice to see that I was able to put four rounds together, play really well, especially after the start I had on Thursday, and to kind of put myself in position to try to win the golf tournament."
Ludvig Aberg will begin the next tournament at five under as a result of his performances over the last couple of weeks. Scottie Scheffler (-10), Xander Schauffele (-8), Hideki Matsuyama (-7), and Keegan Bradley (-6) are ahead of him in strokes to begin the tournament.
