“It's been a tale of three different days” – Thomas Detry gets candid after scoring career low round at Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship

On Saturday, November 9, Thomas Detry shot a personal best 62 in the third round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. Following the round, he made a whopping 45-spot jump after the conclusion of 54 holes.

Detry entered the third round after shooting 72 and 68 in the first two rounds, tied for 52nd, 15 strokes back. He began the third round with a bang, picking up back-to-back birdies on the first six holes of the day. After setting the tone, he finished with four more birdies on the back nine to post his career-low round on the DP World Tour.

Following the third round, Thomas Detry reflected on his performance in the post-round interview.

"It's been a tale of three different days, I want to say," he said. "Finished horrendously on Thursday. Played much better yesterday, and today was just kind of everything clicked together."
"I just played really well. Didn't really miss any drivers. Pretty wide fairways out here, but I kept myself in position the whole round and obviously made a couple of great putts on my first few holes to get the momentum going and I kept going," he added.

"Kind of what I pretty much did today" - Thomas Detry shed light on his plans for the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship

During the post-round interview, Thomas Detry also discussed his strategy for the final round at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.

"Kind of what I pretty much did today," he said. "I think getting off to a good start out here is key. You can easily get through five, six holes, seven holes. If you can be 3-, 4-under, put yourself that good position going through those, then the middle of the round, and especially the final couple of holes are a bit tough.
"It's tough to make birdies and eagles on the last three or four holes. If you can be low, deep, in the early in the round, that would be nice."

Thomas Detry is at T7 and is now just four strokes behind the leader, Paul Waring, ahead of the final round. The Englishman was 19-under after 36 holes, but a third-round 73 narrowed his lead to just one stroke. Niklas Norgaard shot 69 and is now at 17-under after three rounds.

Tommy Fleetwood, Thorbjørn Olesen, Sebastian Söderberg, and Shane Lowry are in a four-way tie for third at 15-under.
