Jason Day shares future plan after being ‘gutted’ by shock FedExCup Playoffs exit
Jason Day has set his sights on the Presidents Cup after narrowly missing the Tour Championship. The Aussie failed to qualify for the final FedEx Cup playoff following a disappointing outing at the BMW Championship. Entering the tournament ranked 25th in the FedEx Cup standings, Day struggled with his game at the BMW Championship and finished in a tie for 33rd place, ultimately missing a spot in the top 30 of the FedEx Cup standings.
Following the 2024 BMW Championship, only PGA Tour players in the top 30 qualify for the Tour Championship. Day’s 33rd-place finish means he will miss next week’s event.
Jason Day recently took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to share his future plans following his FedEx Cup playoffs exit. He expressed gratitude to his fans for their support and stated that he is looking forward to the upcoming Presidents Cup.
"Gutted to have the season come to end but thank you to all the fans and sponsors throughout the year! On to the @presidentscup@presidentscupintlteam," he wrote.
Notably, with the conclusion of the BMW Championship, the six automatic qualifiers for the Presidents Cup from both the USA and International teams have been out. Jason Day secured the fourth spot in the standings and has qualified for the upcoming Presidents Cup to represent the International Team alongside Hideki Matsuyama, Tom Kim, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott, and Byeong Hun An.
The 2024 edition of the team event will take place from September 26 to 29 at The Royal Montreal Golf Club.

However, he struggled significantly thereafter, recording two double bogeys and two bogeys on the front nine. His difficulties continued on the back nine, where he had three bogeys and two birdies, finishing with a score of 6-over 78. Despite a rough start, Day attempted to rebound in the second round, shooting five birdies and two bogeys for a 3-under 69.
Day's struggles persisted into the third round, where he shot four birdies and three bogeys for a 1-under 71, followed by another 71 in the final round. On Sunday, he made eight birdies but also recorded a triple bogey, a double bogey, and two bogeys, ending with an overall score of 1-over par. The Aussie finished in a tie for 33rd place at the 2024 BMW Championship.
Keegan Bradley won the 2024 BMW Championship with a final score of 12-under par. He secured a one-stroke victory over Sam Burns, Ludvig Åberg, and Adam Scott.
Bradley shot rounds of 66, 68, 70, and 72 to claim his second BMW Championship title. This victory earned him 2,000 points and helped him qualify for the Tour Championship.
Entering the BMW Championship ranked 50th in the FedEx Cup standings, Bradley's win elevated him to fourth place, helping him secure a spot in the final FedEx Cup event.
