John Daly visits Donald Trump's golf course in Scotland, labels it as better than St. Andrews- "I just found my new baby"

Days after withdrawing from the 2024 Open Championship, John Daly visited the Trump Turnberry Ailsa Golf Course in Scotland. He played a couple of rounds at the course and had nothing but praise for it.

Daly posted a video about playing at Donald Trump's course, in which he said that it was his new favorite course in Scotland. Daly is known to love the St. Andrews course, which is also in Scotland. He won his first and only Open Championship at St. Andrews in 1995.

However, John Daly dismissed the St. Andrews Course for the Trump Turnberry Course. He said that the Trump Turnberry Course was better than the St. Andrews Course. In the video, posted via NUCLR Golf, Daly said:

"I'm at Trump Turnberry today. Went out and tried to play a little bit. This place is amazing. It is the best golf course in Scotland, I think. St. Andrews is my baby, but I think I just found my new baby. This thing is unreal. I want to thank Mr. Trump and all the staff here for all the great service they gave us. God bless y'all. Grip it, rip it."

The Ailsa has hosted four Open Championships in the past, including the iconic 'Duel in the Sun' between Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus in 1977. The last edition that it hosted was in 2009, which was won by Stewart Cink.

The course has also hosted the Senior British Open, the Women's British Open and the European Open.

John Daly recently withdrew from the Open Championship ahead of the second round, citing a knee injury.

John Daly withdrew from the 2024 Open Championship, citing a knee injury. He provided an update on X, explaining why he withdrew from the tournament. He wrote:

"Disappointed on missing out @TheOpen b/c of a knee injury. watching from afar isn't the same, but know I tried my heart out to get thru it. Was at physio this morning and made the decision to ice & rest it! Thk u to all my fans and @RandA for a week @RoyalTroonGC."

Daly carded an 82 during the first round of the Open Championship. This was not the first time that Daly withdrew due to a knee injury. He also withdrew from the PGA Championship earlier this year owing to the same reason.

It was Xander Schauffele who eventually won the 2024 Open Championship, beating Justin Rose and Billy Horschel by two strokes. This was Schauffele's second major win of the 2024 season, after winning the PGA Championship earlier this year.
