Jon Rahm gives big injury update ahead of LIV Golf Nashville- "Just happy that I'm here"
Jon Rahm provided an injury update after his withdrawal from the 124th US Open in Pinehurst last week. Earlier, Rahm had also withdrawn from the LIV Golf Houston during the second round.
Rahm has now confirmed his particpation in the upcoming LIV Golf Nashiville which will be held at The Grove, College Grove in Tennessee from June 21 to 23, 2024. In the pre-tournament press conference, Rahm said (via LIV Golf):
"I feel ready to walk and hit it. I haven’t been able to do much. It doesn’t take much for me to feel ready to compete. Looking forward to it. Just happy that I’m here."
Jon Rahm withdrew from US Open 2024 and LIV Golf Houston because of an infection on left foot and a cut between his toes. He further said (via LIV Golf):
"I'm feeling good. The main reason for the withdrawal in the two events was the infection I had and just to be cautionary towards not making it worse and seeing what steps I can take to prevent that from happening in the future."
Last week, Jon Rahm withdrew from the third Major of the year after consulting numerous doctors and team. In an X post, he said he was disappointed to withdraw from the competition. In the prior week, Rahm took a pain numbing injection before the second round of the LIV Golf Houston, however had to withdraw just after six holes from the tournament.
Jon Rahm called US Open 2024 was an "enjoyable tournament to watch"
In the pre-tournament press conferene before LIV Golf Nashville, Jon Rahm was asked if he watched the action from US Open 2024. The 2021 US Open Champion said (via LIV Golf):
"It was quite a show from the comfort of my home. It’s a very enjoyable tournament to watch. I haven't gotten the chance to enjoy a major from start to finish like that, and to get to see a lot of golf was really fun and to see how everything unfolded."
Regarding Crushers GC Captain Bryson DeChambeau winning the tournament, Rahm said (via LIV Golf):
"I think it’s great for all of us and great for LIV Golf to see him do that."
Jon Rahm is having a great 2024 season. He is currently ranked second in the individual points race at LIV Golf. He has had seven top-10 finishes at LIV Golf despite the withdrawal at Houston. His best performance came at Mayakoba and Adelaide, both of the places where he finished T3.
