Jon Rahm saves nasty par at Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, days after becoming a father
Spanish golfer Jon Rahm is currently playing at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. During the second round of the tournament, Rahm managed to save a nasty par.
While playing the 12th hole at the Old Course St. Andrews, Rahm's ball landed in the seaweed surrounding a pond. Although the distance between the landing spot and the hole wasn't much, the cup was slightly in an elevated region and had a bunker between the ball and itself. The ball being stuck in the mud made the shot harder to ace. However, Jon Rahm cleared the seaweed from the ball and thus saved a rather difficult par.
Rahm and his wife Kelley Cahill welcomed their third child and first daughter Alaia on 1st October, days before the golfer teed off in Scotland. The pair has two sons Kepa and Eneko, born in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
On Friday, Jon Rahm had recorded four bogeys, three birdies, and an eagle. He will enter the third round six shots behind Nicolas Colsaerts and Cameron John. He is currently placed at T29 with an 8-under after the second round.
"I can’t wait to get back home to them" - Jon Rahm
Jon Rahm is currently away from his family as he is competing at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship in Scotland. The Spanish golfer expressed that he "can't wait" to go back to his wife and three children soon.
Rahm and his wife Kelley Cahill welcomed their daughter Alaia the same week the Spaniard was to start his campaign at the DP World Tour event. However, Rahm took time to share the special news with his fans on Instagram. On October 1, he posted pictures of him and Kelley with their baby, Alaia.
In the first photo, Kelly was seen holding Alaia in her arms as Rahm looked over adoringly at his newborn. In the second picture, Alaia can be seen wearing a beanie with a white bow on it. The following photo shows Rahm sitting on a chair holding his daughter Alaia in his arms as she is swaddled in a green blanket and wearing the same beanie.
Rahm captioned the post:
"So blessed to have welcomed our daughter Alaia Cahill Rahm into the world last week. Mama and baby girl are both healthy and doing great, I can't wait to get back home to them," he wrote.
The final round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship will be held on Sunday at the Old Course. In the third round, Jon Rahm is paired with Tommy Fleetwood and will tee it off at 5:06 am (ET).
