“Just wasn’t happening with golf”: Paige Spiranac drove herself ‘crazy’ due to lack of success in professional career

Paige Spiranac is now an accomplished social media 'golf' influencer. However, at one point, she wanted to be the best of the golfers. However, the premature end of her professional golf career still haunts her.

Spiranac shared her disappointment at her unfulfilling golf career in her “Playing A Round” podcast. She started playing golf at the age of 12 when she decided to quit gymnastics. Her father introduced her to the game and she dedicated herself to it.

“I was homeschooled. I practiced every single day, morning until night. It was my only goal. I was a highly ranked junior golfer.”

Paige went on to play for the University of Arizona and San Diego State University as she thought she was homeschooled for too long and playing in college would give her exposure. However, she felt she was 'burnt out' as she couldn't see the results she was expecting despite dedicating her life to the game.

As per Spiranac, gymnastics was tough due to her struggles with injury. However, she felt golf was even more interesting given she still could not make it despite doing everything she could to get better.

"You can work out, eat right, practice and still not achieve your goals. That was something for me that I just couldn’t wrap my head around."

For her, it was all against her parents' perspective towards hard work, dedication, and success.

“But that just wasn’t happening with golf and I was driving myself crazy because I felt like I should be achieving at a much higher level.

Paige felt she had every quality to become a top-ranked golfer but just wasn't able to put it all together and that was driving her crazy.

This is not the first time she has expressed her disappointment at not being a top professional golfer. Last month, during the Q&A session she talked about working her A** off and still not being able to make it.

"Yeah, it really sucks. I worked my a** off," she said. "I was a highly ranked junior golfer. I had a decent college career"

Although her golf career as a player ended prematurely, Paige Spiranac is still doing well for herself since retirement. She has become one of the top golf influencers with a social media following of over 3.7 million on Instagram and over 807K on Twitter.

Spiranac, who will turn 30 later this month, said that she started doing media work instead of feeling sorry for herself.

"But instead of sitting down and feeling sorry for myself, I picked myself back up and threw myself into my media work. My background of just grinding, hard work has really helped me in my media career, because I work so incredibly hard”

Paige Spiranac was named the "Maxim Sexiest Woman of the Year" for 2022 and also found herself on the cover of the 2022 Maxim “Hot 100” issue. In January, she launched her subscription-based content website, OnlyPaige.
