Justin Thomas fails to achieve more than half of goals on his bucket list for the 2024 season
Before the 2024 season, Justin Thomas had set a few goals for himself. It was not, however, as good of a season as he had envisioned, as he's now revealed what those goals were. He only achieved six of his proposed goals.
Thomas was able to make the Tour Championship, have strokes gained approach of .75 or more, make the top 20 in proximity to the 100-125 range, have an average par under three and four, and have a scrambling rate of 60%.
Some of the failed goals he had were to win a tournament, finish the year in the top five of OWGR, record strokes gained putting metric of .25 or higher, average 69.25 per round, and make the Presidents Cup team.
Thomas shared the post on Instagram and opened up on his shortcomings:
"A lot of good, plenty of room for improvement, but tons of excitement for next season. I always enjoy doing a deep dive of stats on different areas of my game compared to a few of my best stretches and finding similarities/differences. With those I find areas I want to work on during my off weeks and create new goals for new years. Have always been a believer of why not set goals of things you WANT to achieve, then work your tail off to try and do it."
The golfer, who welcomed his first child into the world exactly a month ago, also said it was time to make a new list and try to achieve more goals in 2025.
Justin Thomas achieved one big goal in 2024
While many of his golfing goals went unfulfilled, Justin Thomas did do something off the field that had been a goal of his. In welcoming his daughter to the world in November, he became a first-time parent.
He had admitted before the ZOZO in Japan that, while he was focused on the tournament, he was ready to go back home and begin the process of becoming a father.
Justin Thomas said via PGA Tour at the time:
“I know my wife's going to be an unbelievable mom, and I'm excited for the opportunity to raise a little girl. It’s going to be great."
He added:
“All I know is I'll be as ready as I possibly can and we're going to make the most out of every situation we can. I can't tell you honestly if I'm ready because I've never done it before. I'll let you know in a couple months. It will be a challenge in different ways, but one that we're excited for.”
When it happened, Justin Thomas shared on Instagram:
“Our little girl is here! Molly Grace Thomas arrived to us 11/18/24, and we couldn’t be more in love. Both mamma (who is a superhero!) and Molly are healthy, and doing well.”
The American also thanked the Jupiter Medical Center and the staff for taking such good care of his wife, Jillian, and his newborn daughter, Molly. Molly just turned one month old today, December 18.
