Justin Thomas jokes about sharing one similarity with Tiger Woods - “We have a lot in common between us”
Justin Thomas shares a good bond with Tiger Woods. It is a friendship so popular in the world of golf that on more than a few occasions they have been paired in the opening rounds of tournaments.
For that reason, it is not uncommon for them to be linked to each other, even looking for coincidences in their history in golf. That's where Kolt Knost and Drew Stoltz, hosts of SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio's "Gravy and the Sleeze" show, "discovered" that neither Justin Thomas nor Tiger Woods had ever played at Pine Valley.
In a recent interview, they pointed out this coincidence to Justin Thomas, who joked about it by saying the following:
"Yeah, we have a lot in common between us."
Thomas will be playing for the first time at Pine Valley in the coming weeks as part of a promotional event featuring Knost, Stoltz and former pro and current broadcaster Smiley Kauffman.
Pine Valley Golf Club is one of the top-rated golf courses in the world, ranking several times in Golf Digest magazine's Top 100 golf courses. However, it is a venue that has only hosted two Major tournaments in its history (the Walker Cup in 1936 and 1985).
How is Justin Thomas' 2024 season going?
Justin Thomas has played eight tournaments during 2024, with five cuts made, including two Top 10s. His best result so far has been a T3 finish at The American Express, the very event he started the year with.
Thomas earned his second Top 10s a week later at The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (T6), but since then his results have slipped. He finished T12 at the WM Phoenix Open, made the cut at The Genesis Invitational and finished T12 again at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
He made the cut again at The Players Championship, finished T64 at The Valspar Championship and suffered his third cut in his last five starts at the Masters Tournament just last week.
Of the 25 rounds played during 2024, Thomas posted 13 with scores in the 60s, but 11 of those were his first three tournaments of the season. His best round was the third at The American Express (61) and his worst was reported on the third day of the Valspar Championship and the second day of The Masters (both with a score of 79).
Thomas is participating in the 2024 RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links in Hilton Heads. On the 11th hole of the first round he had three bogeys and no birdies.
Thomas has played the RBC Heritage five times. He has never missed the cut and his best finish was eighth place in the 2020 edition.
