Kevin Kisner takes on NBC commentator role for FedEx Cup playoffs after missing a spot in the field

PGA Tour golfer Kevin Kisner will be in the broadcasting booth for NBC during this week's FedEx Cup event. The American has played in 18 PGA Tour events in 2024, but missed the cut in 13 of them and did not qualify for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Instead, he is set to end his season as an analyst.

Kisner finished 198th on the FedEx Cup standings this season with 37 points. Since only the top 70 qualify for the playoffs, he is ineligible for the tournament this week. However, he will be joining the NBC broadcasting booth for all three FedEx Cup playoffs.

The 2024 FedEx St. Jude Championship began with its inaugural round on Thursday, August 15, and has completed two rounds, with Denny McCarthy and Hideki Matsuyama leading after the second round. The third round is scheduled for Saturday, August 17, and will be available to watch on Golf Channel and NBC, with early exclusive coverage on ESPN+.

Kevin Kisner has worked as a lead analyst for NBC for a while now, making his debut at The Sentry. He also served as an analyst at the WM Phoenix Open and The Players Championship. However, he is not taking on full-time broadcasting responsibilities, as he remains focused on his golf career.

Earlier this year, in an interview with The Loop Podcast, Kisner said:

"I haven’t played well in two years, and I don’t really want to go out like that, to be honest with you. I feel like I can still compete with the guys if I’m playing well, which I haven’t played what I consider well yet. So, it’s kind of a test to myself to see, how hard can you work to figure it out?”

Kisner has been playing professional golf since 2006 and has won four PGA Tour events in his career. While he has had a decent career overall, he has struggled with his game this season.

In 2024, he made just five cuts, with his best finish being a tie for 33rd place at the 3M Open. His last appearance was at the Wyndham Championship, where he missed the cut.
