"Leave no room for error"- Jon Rahm takes LIV Golf Chicago lead against Joaquin Niemann amidst individual championship battle

On Saturday, September 14, Jon Rahm moved to the top of the leaderboard at LIV Golf Chicago after firing a 6-under 64. Following the second round, he is at 7-under, one stroke ahead of Sergio Garcia.

Besides the LIV Golf Chicago title, the season championship title is also at stake on Sunday, September 15. While Rahm holds the lead in the individual standings, the difference between him and Joaquín Niemann is not much. The Chilean golfer is tied for fourth at Chicago, and a win here could make him the individual champion.

During the post-round interview on Saturday, Rahm admitted that he was aware of the situation. He said, as per ASAP Sports:

"The overall standing is a complete correlation to what you do on the golf course. It's a straight consequence of how you perform. That's what I've got to remind myself and keep remembering, we're here to win a championship. I want to get my second individual win of the year, and if I play well and accomplish that, I'll leave no room for error in that sense.

"My goal is to win tomorrow and play the best I can. Obviously the scenarios, if we go down 18 and I can't win the tournament for whatever reason but I'm still in a fight with Joaquin, great. But what's going to be the best way for me to enjoy the last few holes is if I have a really good Sunday and take a comfortable lead hopefully going into the last few holes so I can smile on that stretch through it."

When will Jon Rahm tee off at the LIV Golf Chicago, Round 3?

Jon Rahm is grouped with Brooks Koepka and Sergio Garcia for the final round of the LIV Gofl Chicago. The trio will tee off on Sunday, September 15 at 12:16 pm ET. All the remaining groups will begin their round at shotgun start on Sunday at 12:05 pm ET.

Following the second round, Rahm holds a one-shot lead over Sergio Garcia. Brooks Kopeka, who had fired 62 in the opening round, slipped to third after shooting 3-over 73 on Saturday.
