Lexi Thompson makes her feelings clear after final-round heartbreak at Meijer LPGA Classic

Lexi Thompson was chasing her 12th LPGA Tour title at the recently concluded Meijer LPGA Classic but narrowly missed the victory and finished at T4. Despite a heartbreaking final round, she shared a post on Instagram thanking the event sponsors and fans for making the tournament memorable for her.

Thompson claimed her maiden LPGA Tour title at the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic. Her first and only major championship victory was in the 2014 Chevron Championship. She came close to securing her second major title at the 2019 U.S. Women’s Open, where she tied for second place. She also came second in the 2022 Women’s PGA Championship.

Lexi Thompson finished the 2025 Meijer LPGA Classic with 13-under. She dropped from first place to fourth place and finished the tournament three strokes behind the lead.

Following the conclusion of the tournament, the Florida-born golfer shared pictures of memorable moments from her time at Blythefield Country Club. She captioned the post:

“One of my favorite stops here in Grand Rapids for the @meijerlpga. The hospitality the players receive this week is the best. Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers ,and AMAZING fans this week for making it a memorable week once again. I hope all the fathers out there had a great day with their loved ones 🫶🏼 #T4”

Thompson has competed in six LPGA Tour events this year, and her best result was from the Meijer LPGA Classic. She missed the cut in the U.S. Women’s Open and tied for 14th place in the Chevron Championship.

Lexi Thompson charged into the final round of the 2025 Meijer LPGA Classic tied for the lead with Hye-Jin Choi, Sofia Garcia, and three other golfers. She kicked off the round with three consecutive birdies on holes three, four, and five, and went bogey-free on the front nine.

After a spectacular performance on the front nine, Thompson struggled through some holes on the back nine. She shot her first bogey of the day on the par-3 13th hole and followed up with a birdie on the 14th. She shot two more back-to-back bogeys on the 16th and 17th and closed with a birdie on the 18th.

Lexi Thompson finished the tournament with a total score of 13-under 275, tied with Celine Boutier and Nanna Koerstz Madsen. Carlota Ciganda won the tournament with 16-under, while Hye-Jin-Choi placed second with 15-under. Somi Lee finished with a 14-under and placed third.
