Lexi Thompson prepares for LPGA Meijer Classic showdown by giving a "special shout out" to her biggest supporter
Lexi Thompson enters Sunday's final round at the 2025 Meijer LPGA Classic. She now shares the lead after three rounds at Blythefield Country Club in Belmont, Michigan. She shot a 4-under 68 on Saturday and is tied at 11-under with five other golfers.
Before Thompson entered the final round, she took to Instagram to post a heartfelt Father's Day message:
"Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. But special shout out to my dad, thank you for always being there for me through thick and thin, and always there to support me🫶❤️"
Thompson opened the tournament with an impressive bogey-free 64 and followed it with a 70 on Friday. If she clinches victory, it will be her first LPGA win since June 2019. She won the Meijer LPGA Classic in 2015 and narrowly missed the title last year in a three-hole playoff to Lilia Vu. In 2024, she had a one-shot lead late in the final round but was forced into extra holes after Vu hit a birdie on the 72nd.
Lexi Thompson's last LPGA win came at the 2019 ShopRite LPGA Classic, where she shot an eagle on the last hole to seal her 11th career title. Since then, she has captured a win on the Ladies European Tour at the 2022 Aramco Team Series in New York. In 2024, she announced that she was moving away from full-time professional golf due to mental health struggles.
However, Thompson returned in 2025 with a part-time schedule and also had a T-14 finish at the Chevron Championship this year. As of now, she is gearing up for the final round at the Meijer LPGA Classic
