“LIV Golf is on the precipice of significant growth”: Greg Norman welcomes newly appointed COO Lawrence Burian

LIV Golf has announced Lawrence J. Burian as its new chief operating officer, a year after Atul Khosla left the position after the first season. Burian, a former executive with the Madison Square Garden group, will now look after the execution of the 2024 schedule among other key responsibilites.

Lawrence Burian worked closely with the New York Knicks and New York Rangers and other notable MSG companies over 12 years. He has also previously worked with Cablevision Systems Corporation, the former parent company of the MSG group.

LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman is excited for the future of the tour and looks forward to its "significant growth."

“After more than two years of breaking molds and pushing boundaries, LIV Golf is on the precipice of significant growth. Lawrence’s decades of business experience are exactly what we need to keep us competitive and moving forward," he said in a statement on the LIV Golf website.

Burian is a Yale Law School graduate, who specialized in mergers and acquisitions during his time as an associate with the Davis Polk & Wardwell law firm.

"Lawrence is a proven leader and a proven winner, and we couldn’t be more excited to have him on our executive leadership team," Norman said.

Lawrence Burian will be an integral part of the 2024 LIV season, overlooking team management, investor relations and the execution of the schedule. Burian is looking forward to his time at LIV Golf.

“I am excited to join LIV Golf as Chief Operating Officer and look forward to harnessing my more than two decades of senior executive experience to help build on the progress and momentum that is well underway," Burian said in a statement.

Atul Khosla, the former COO, departed from the LIV Series after just one season. Since then, the position has been vacant with Gary Davidson serving as the interim COO until now. With the upcoming merger between LIV and the PGA Tour, it is the perfect time to appoint someone like Burian to navigate the important deal.

The 2023 LIV season saw Talor Gooch win the individual Championship, while Bryson DeChambeau's team Crushers GC win the team title at the Miami event.
