Looks like old Colin was right","Retire bro" - Fans react as Tiger Woods shoots +8 at Open Championship

Tiger Woods finished day 1 of the Open with a score of +8, which currently puts him well at the bottom of the leaderboard. He sits over 13 shots behind the current leader, Shane Lowry. The day was a tough one for most golfers, and certainly for Woods.

Fans were not happy with Woods' performance, especially as he had displayed confidence in his abilities to play well at Royal Troon. A few fans even pointed out that Colin Montgomerie might be right in telling Woods that it is time to retire. The Scottish golf legend recently called out the 15x Major champion, saying that he should consider retiring soon.

Woods hit back at Montgomerie, and said that he would not be retiring anytime soon. After the first round at the Open, fans seem to disagree with Woods' words.

"Looks like old Colin was right" a fan said.
"Retire bro. It’s over" another fan said.

"Dang. Was hoping for a good tourney," said one fan.
"So, Colin was right," another fan commented.
"Yesterday we were told he was “dialed in.”," another fan pointed out.
"It’s painful to watch this is a shadow of what he used to be," a fan said.

Tiger Woods will have to perform well to stay in the mix tomorrow. As the cut comes up at the end of round 2, Woods will have to ensure that he is in the top 70 golfers if he wants to play the next two rounds as well.

Tiger Woods disappointed with first round at Open Championship despite feeling 'physically better'

Tiger Woods said that he felt better about playing at the Open. However, that did not translate into a good show in the first round, leaving the 15x Major champion disappointed. After his first round, Woods expressed that there were a lot of things he could have done better.

"I didn't do a lot of things right today," Woods said via the PGA Tour. "I didn't hit my irons very close, and I didn't give myself a whole lot of looks today. I need to shoot something in the mid-60s tomorrow to get something going on the weekend."

Woods said that he is already looking at playing a better season next year, especially if he can keep up with his progress.

The Open Championship is currently being held at the Royal Troon Golf Club from July 18-21. The tournament is being held just weeks ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, where the world's top golfers will tee it up once again.
