“Might be more for his mentals” – PGA Tour pro replies as NFL star Justin Pugh suggests he ‘negotiate’ Jalen Hurts’ contract
PGA Tour professional Max Homa replied to NFL star Justin Pugh, who joked that Jalen Hurts should get Homa’s help with his contract negotiations after he recently missed a chance to play golf with former President Obama. On October 29, Hurts got to play golf with Obama but couldn't participate due to his contract with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Hurts, along with team owner Jeffrey Lurie and teammate Saquon Barkley, was set for a four-ball game with the former President but couldn’t tee it up because of the terms of his NFL contract. Justin Pugh retweeted NBC Sports anchor John Clark's post sharing the news on X (formerly Twitter). The former Arizona Cardinals player suggested that Hurts seek contract negotiation advice from PGA's Max Homa:
"You should let @Maxhoma negotiate your next contract @JalenHurts."
Homa replied:
"Might be more for his mentals. Don’t want him getting irrationally frustrated on off days."
Earlier this week, Hurts discussed the missed opportunity and said of the former president (via Mirror):
"[He's] kinda like an uncle figure out there, President Obama. All-time leader, and a great presence. Down-to-earth. Can only imagine that lifestyle and the different things that come with that, but nonetheless to see him out there enjoying himself, talking a little trash, that was cool."
Golf is popular among NFL stars. Players including Travis Kelce, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers often play the sport and have even competed in the exclusive made-for-TV golf event, The Match, over the years.
